Resident Council Meetings
The Resident Council will hold meetings at each site. The schedule will be as follows:
Limestone Courts: August 10 th at 5 pm
Colonial Heights: August 13 th at 5 pm
Beltline Courts: August 18 th at 4:30 pm
Granard Courts: August 19 th at 5 pm

Board Meeting
The Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 pm at the Beltline Main Office.
Rent Payment Reminder
We appreciate those of you who make an effort to pay your rent on time each month. Rent is due on the 1st. Payments made after the 8th will incur late fees. Thanks for your cooperation.
Pest Control
Pest control and filter change will take place Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Beltline Courts. Residents will be notified of the date in advance. Please make sure to have your front screen door unlocked so that maintenance and the pest control person may enter your unit.

USE OF DWELLING:
You may entertain friends or relatives for a short visit. But PERMANENT GUESTS ARE NOT PERMITTED. They are a violation of your lease (paragraphs 2 & 7). You cannot sublet or transfer your home to someone else. The Housing Authority selects residents from a waiting list of applicants who are offered housing in the order of priority.
Swimming Pools
Swimming pools and other outside water features are not allowed on any of the Gaffney Housing Properties.
Smoke Alarms
Attention Residents!!! It has been brought to our attention in recent months that a great number of smoke alarms have been taken down or batteries removed from them. This is a health and safety violation for your family and others in your building. Smoke alarm replacement due to tenant negligence will result in a $75 charge per alarm. If your batteries are beeping, please call in a work order to have them replaced.

Bright Ideas!
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but happenstance is a close cousin! Consider how these well-known inventions got their somewhat inauspicious starts:
• The Slinky was the result of a failed attempt in 1943 by engineer Richard James to produce a spring for ship instruments that would counterbalance the wave motion that rocks a ship at sea.
• During World War II, GE engineer James Wright was tasked with creating a cheap substitute for rubber that could be used to produce tires, gas masks, and other military gear. The result? Silly Putty.
• It was the event of the century- the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis-and an ice cream vendor was about to run out of cups. Meanwhile, his neighboring vendor couldn't sell his waffle-esque zalabia. The two teamed up to create the classic ice cream cone.
• While attempting to invent a superstrong glue, 3M employee Spencer Silver created an adhesive that was so weak, it would barely hold two pieces of paper together. Colleague Art Fry used the glue to mark the pages of his hymnal with small scraps of paper, and Post-it Notes were born!
• In 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson left his soda water mix outside on a freezing night with the stir stick inside. The young accidental inventor tasted his frozen soda the next morning and knew he had struck gold. He first named the cold treat Epsicle (Epperson + icicle), but later renamed it popsicle.
S'more Substitutions
Craving a campfire treat, but don't have all the classic s'mores ingredients? Get creative with items in your cupboard. Vanilla wafers, shortbread cookies, butter crackers, and pretzels can stand in for graham crackers, and instead of chocolate, fruit, chocolate syrup, or any other candy bar will do. You may discover a new favorite combination!

For a sweet taste of summer that's healthy, too, load up your plate with melon. Cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon are full of nutrients, including vitamin C and potassium. Thanks to the fruits' natural sweetness and high water content, snacking on melon is a great way to quench thirst and stay full without excess calories or sugar.

GAFFNEY HOUSING AUTHORITY AFTER-HOURS MAINTENANCE PROTOCOL
Routine Maintenance requests between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM should be made by calling the main office at (864) 489-3193. After-hours calls are Monday through Thursday beginning at 5:00 PM and ending at 7:00 AM. Weekends begin at 5:00 PM on Thursdays and end on Mondays at 7:00 AM. After-Hours Maintenance is for emergencies only.
There will be a $25.00 charge for all Nuisance calls.
Emergencies:
Apartment is flooding (busted water pipes, busted water heater, broken supply lines, etc.).
• No heat
• Resident smells natural gas.
• Refrigerator goes completely out.
• Stopped-up commode
• Air conditioner not working. (All calls for AC after 8:00 PM will be addressed the following day.)
Lockouts:
• Lockout requests must come from an adult household member. Any requests after 8:00 PM will be taken care of the following day.
